We all woke up this morning to a steady down pour, which in the day camp world means a lot of last minute changes to programming and scheduled activities. With the forecast looking very bleak for the entire day, we sat around at breakfast and brainstormed a number of different ways that we could entertain the kids all day while crammed into a very small gym. It is amazing how much time can be spent playing dodgeball, benchball, octopus and other related indoor games. In the afternoon, the field was still soaked so the campers got another movie treat by watching Kung Fu Panda. The drama team kept the story of Lightbulb Man alive as the supervillain “Firefinger” captures the town mayor and holds him hostage in order to execute his evil plan to build his death ray and take over the world! The arts and crafts team helped the kids make candy kabobs and candy necklaces, as it is obvious to everyone around here now that one way to keep lots of kids happy is to keep throwing sweets at them!
After camp was finished, the team went around the corner to where the Kerr Street Perfoming Arts Camp was being held, and watched the performances of all the kids who had been participating in that camp the last 2 weeks. The singing, dancing, drama and art were amazing, and the kids did an awesome job. After that the team went to dinner at Boston Pizza and then back to Kerr Street for some last minute planning for Friday.

Wednesday Recap - Day #3
The drama team kicked it into high gear during the morning meeting with the introduction of the super villain of the week “Fire-Finger”, played by Ginger. After Lightbulb Man and his sidekick Shift thwart another robbery in the city, Fire-Finger appears along with his main henchman to announce his plans to dominate the city. Fire-Finger was dressed in a red and black trench coat and was gooped up with red, spiky hair gel. Very menacing! After a brief verbal confrontation and threats to each other, the superhero and super villain decide that the only real way to settle a battle like this one is to have what else – a DANCE-OFF! The music starts blaring and Shift (today played by Jamster) and Fire-Finger’s henchman (played by Digs) alternated showing off their best dance moves and challenging each other to top each other. The campers loved this part of the morning so much, that after the drama was done, a dance-off was held for all the kids in the gym.
The day continued with a Bible Study on Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego while the arts team helped the kids make superhero puppets out of paper bags, feathers, googly eyes, markers etc. There were some awesome creations! The sports team organized some water balloon games outside and the campers had a great morning moving from station to station. In the afternoon, the campers (and counselors!) got a treat and gathered together in the gym to watch the movie “The Incredibles”. A nice relaxing afternoon.
When the day was finished, we headed back to our respective headquarters to change for supper. From there the adventure into the big city began! see the previous post for that adventure!

The Big City
Just got home from a great night in Toronto with the team. We originally headed down towards the Beaches but quickly realized that the garbage problem has caused numerous traffic problems along the Lakeshore as there were many streets, parks and parking lots shut down and filled with smelly garbage piles. We changed our plan and went north into the city and stopped for some tasty burgers at the Yellow Griphon Pub, had to wait for an hour and a half to eat, but it was worth it. $3.00 for a can of Coke? Brutal. Then we hit the beach for some frisbee, pictures and team bonding as we waded into the frigid Lake Ontario arm in arm. The drive home was maddening, as traffic was a crawl the entire way due to construction. Now off to bed.

Welcome Home BBQ!
Hey Parents,
As we get closer and closer to the end of our trip, we'd like to take this chance to remind all of you to our week ending BBQ / Campfire at the end of this week. Here are the details in case you have forgot:
When: Friday, July 24th
Where: 677 Meadow Wood Road, Mississauga
Host: Filomena Gucciardi (Giulia’s Mom)
Time: 6:30 – 9:00 pm
Food: Potluck (see below)
Bring: Swimsuit and Towel
We’d love for this to have a family flavor and for the kids to get a nice home cooked meal at the end of a very busy and tiring week. If you would be willing and able to bring something scrumptious to eat (appetizers, salad, dessert, drinks), that would be great. We will provide the meat and have a great time of sharing, telling stories and catching up with our experiences from the week at Kerr Street. We will drive the kids there after we finish up at camp and pack up at Kerr Street, and you can take your kids home at the end of the night!
Please if you have not RSVP'd as of yet with to let us know how many will be coming and what you are able to bring - we would appreciate your reply ASAP. If you have other kids and they want to join us, feel free to bring them along too.

Hard To Believe!
Digs (our own Josh T.) has now had the same camp T-shirt on since Sunday morning. I think that's 81 hours straight and included a trip into the pool, 3 overnights and a rainstorm. Weird. Apparently Digs has set a goal to wear it all week. Is anyone supervising these people?
Tuesday Recap - Day #2
Tuesday morning breakfast was waffles and bagels. I’ve never seen anyone eat 3 frozen chocolate chip waffles before, but Digs couldn’t wait for the toaster I guess. The team was tired but ready for another day at camp. I think a lot were surprised at how much energy it took to hang out with kids and do programming for 7 hours a day. A really great learning experience.
The drama team kicked it up a notch as the morning meeting was all about Lightbulb Man searching for a sidekick. The show involved a robbery, a high speed chase and an awesome dive off the front of the stage by Bootleg who was playing the villain for the morning. After he gets away and Lightbulb Man realizes that he cannot fight crime alone and needs some help, he puts up signs and holds “Side Kick Auditions”. From that point on, a parade of weird and wonderful characters interviewed for the position but were all denied. There was Pedro the Runner played by Ginger, The Eater, The Digger and my personal favorite, the Robotic Cheerleader all played by Digs. As Lightbulb Man leaves discouraged because he could not find a suitable sidekick, he encounters “Shift” (played by Bisk), a crime fighting machine who can change and morph into any shape, size or person. Shift jumps on the scene just in time to catch the same villain who thwarted our superhero earlier in day, and Lightbulb Man asks Shift to be his new partner. A dream team is born.
The rest of the day was filled with Bible Studies from Daniel and the Lion’s Den, a “Create Your Own Superhero” craft for the younger kids and an awesome Camp Wide Game in the afternoon called “The Great Paint Escape. During that game, six of our teams members organized and ran various outdoor activity stations, while the other 6 members were dressed in full body white jumpsuits so they could be painted by their team each time they won an activity. By the end of the day, Elroy, Stern, Sugah, Swoosh, Tubes and Ginger were soaked to the bone with all different colors of paint. Hopefully some of our pictures came out and we can post the madness later.
At night, we headed out for dinner and then to see the movie “The Proposal”. As mentioned before, we found out earlier in the day that the boys had ben kicked out of their spot at KSM, so we loaded into LJ’s van, picked up some groceries (these students eat a LOT) and headed to LJ’s house for the night.

What Is That Smell?
I don’t know what’s going on in the girls living quarters at Michelle’s apartment, but have you ever experienced what a room with no windows smells like after 7 guys have lived in it for only 24 short hours? Not pretty.
